The Antarctic Treaty Summit: Science-Policy Interactions in International Governance is a project of the International Polar Year – jointly endorsed by the International Council of Science and World Meteorological Organization with public-private funding.
The host benefactor of the Antarctic Treaty Summit is the Smithsonian Institution. The Smithsonian Institution is generously underwriting use of the National Museum of Natural History and National Air and Space Museum as well as providing coordination through the Office of the Undersecretary for Science and the Office of Special Events and Protocol. In addition, the Smithsonian Institution Scholarly Press will publish the book based on papers and presentations at the Antarctic Treaty Summit (tentatively titled: Science Diplomacy: Antarctica, Science and the Governance of International Spaces).
Administration of grants and contracts is provided by the University of California Santa Barbara (Bren School of Environmental Science & Management) in the United States and the University of Cambridge (Scott Polar Research Institute) in the United Kingdom.
